چکیده
DOWNIE, S. R., and K. E. DENFORD. 1987. The biosystematics of Amicafilgens and A. sororia (Asteraceae). Can. J . Bot. 65: 559 -570. Amicafilgens Pursh and A. sororia Greene are sympatric throughout most of their ranges in northwestern United States and adjacent southwestern Canada. These taxa were previously recognized as two morphologically overlapping varieties or not very well separated species. A study of their floral and vegetative morphology, using TAXMAP cluster analyses, foliar flavonoid chemistry, reproductive biology, and ecology indicates that they are distinct species. Studies of reproductive behaviour reveal them to be amphimictic (2n = 38) and self-incompatible. Artificial hybridization experiments between the two species were unsuccessful.

Flavonoid Variation in Arnica subgenus Arctica
-Twelve flavonoids (including seven flavonol and three flavone glycosides, one flavone aglycone, and one unknown) were isolated from the leaves of 198 populations of the seven species comprising Arnica subgenus Arctica. Flavonoid profiles are relatively simple, with two to six compounds found per population; however, considerable flavonoid variation was apparent in populations of A. angustifoli...
متن کاملQuantification of Sesquiterpene Lactones in Asteraceae Plant Extracts: Evaluation of their Allergenic Potential
Sesquiterpene lactones (SLs), mainly those with an activated exocyclic methylene group, are important allergens in Asteraceae (Compositae) plants. As a screening tool, the Compositae mix, consisting of five Asteraceae plant extracts with allergenic potential (feverfew, tansy, arnica, yarrow, and German chamomile) is part of several national patch test baseline series. However, the SL content of...

The chromosome number (2n=5x=44+1B) of Tanacetum fisherae, as a new record from high mountains of southern Iran (Kerman province: Hazar mountain) is reported. A new ploidy level (pentaploidy) for the genus is presented for the first time. The studied population was aneuploid, having lost one chromosome out of the 45 expected in an x=9-based pentaploid. The distribution map, description and micr...
